Download appflight for Mac

The beta build is not public yet. We send the download link to beta testers by email, in small rounds. Join the list and we will email you when your seat opens.

System requirements

  • A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs are not supported.
  • macOS 15.6 Sequoia or later, the minimum that Xcode 26 runs on.
  • Xcode 26 or later from the Mac App Store, opened once to finish its setup, with an iOS simulator runtime installed (Xcode > Settings > Components). You never work in Xcode, but appflight builds with Apple's toolchain, so it has to be installed.
  • About 20 GB of free disk space for Xcode, a simulator runtime, and your builds.
  • Claude Code or Codex installed on this Mac, signed in to your own account or set up with your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key. appflight checks this for you on first launch.
  • To ship to TestFlight or the App Store: an Apple Developer Program membership (99 USD a year) and an App Store Connect API key. You do not need either to build and preview an app.

Install

  1. Download the .dmg from the link in your invite email.
  2. Open the .dmg and drag appflight into your Applications folder.
  3. Open appflight from Applications. This beta build is not notarized by Apple yet, so the first time macOS stops it and says it could not verify the app. Click Done, not Move to Trash.
  4. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, and click Open Anyway next to the message about appflight. Enter your Mac password, then click Open Anyway again in the dialog that follows. You only do this once for each build you install.
  5. On first launch macOS may ask whether appflight can use its storage in your Keychain, where it keeps your keys encrypted. Enter your Mac password and click Always Allow. This prompt is expected on beta builds.
  6. Follow the setup in the app: pick Claude Code or Codex and connect it.

The public release will be signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, and steps 3 and 4 go away.

Before your first build

  • Open Xcode once and add an iOS simulator runtime in Xcode > Settings > Components.
  • Sign in to Claude Code or Codex on this Mac, or add your own API key in appflight.
  • Add an App Store Connect API key only when you are ready to ship.

appflight checks your toolchain before every build and tells you the exact fix if something is missing.

Updates

appflight checks appflight.dev for a new version when it launches (you can turn this off in Settings). When there is one, it shows a banner that links to this page. Download the new .dmg and replace the app in your Applications folder. Your projects stay where they are. What changed is on the changelog.
